After all the excitement of the wedding preparation, stress with that one bridesmaid (mbu your bff) who didn’t like the dress design you picked for them or the color….or the makeup!! After all the endless meetings and speeches and emotional roller-coaster and finally saying, “I DO”;NOW WHAT???? i remember the morning after all the chaos and i turned to my husband and thought this is it!! We are married, now what next? It was a total anti-climax, there was no parade, no fireworks nothing….i blame those silly mills&boons getting our hopes high!!

After the honeymoon, it slowly but surely hits you that you have vowed to spend the rest of your life with this person, till death does you part!! No more breaking up to make up again..nothing this is it!!This is the long haul flight….i slowly entered a depression and wondered to myself why would anyone in their right mind want to be tied to one person for the rest of their lives?? This could either be a life long vacation or a prison sentence: doing time. I shared these thoughts with my prison mate and he went all philosophical on me;circle of life, stages of life stuff…i nodded and realized he can’t help me; he has just got a cook, dishwasher & unlimited cuddle mate for life, he was really happy. Question still remained “what did i get?” so i went to talk to someone who had been married for years on end, over a nice glass of Merlot ; she explained to me that marriage was designed by God for the benefit of man mainly; my jaw dropped like what?? So James Brown was right, IT IS A MAN’ WORLD!!! She continued to burst my bubble, this seemed like another form of torture till she mentioned the capacity women have to thrive in God led marriages. She started from Eve,to Noah’ wife(imagine her look when Noah told her this is what God told me to do….she must have thought this guy has gone cray!!) to Sarah on to Esther the list was endless, women who had put their trust fully in God and not men! ” Do not put your trust in princes, nor in a son of man,in whom there is no help”-Psalms 146:3. She explained how God has directed her path in regards to everything to do with her husband, her marriage, her children, her household…everything! She put it to me: you trust God to make a way for you for a certain business deal but you won’t trust Him to open your husband heart to show you love or to change his ways? All ye of little faith… I must say as I sat in my uber back home i pondered :why do we limit our God who has given us all good things pertaining to Life??? I promptly started talking to Him about all woes and disappointments and i must say one by one is being handled(in an Olivia Pope way) and i give thanks. As young married women, we need to stop thinking of the destination and enjoy the journey, its already been set for us in auto pilot lets not complicate it.BE BOLD TO PUT GOD FIRST!!!
